But the good news is there’s absolutely nothing wrong with not knowing the difference between a hammer and a wrench or wondering how to measure a straight line. The key is starting small and building your confidence with the basics. This guide will discuss five of the most basic tools every beginner DIYer should have, helping you take the first steps toward mastering your next project.

1.) Tape Measure

My Tip:
Measure twice- maybe even more than twice! I can’t tell you how many times I have mismeasured (or mis-remembered what I measured). This can really set you back. Double and triple check your measurements before making any cuts or drilling holes to ensure everything fits perfectly.

Some products can get fancy with lasers and digital readers but the most basic and affordable measuring tapes work perfectly fine!
2.) Hammer

My Tip:
